Calls for video entries for the chance to win one of
three $25,000 endowment funds
From March through June 1, Presbyterian youth groups across the country are invited to participate in an on-line youth video challenge as part of ymiLIVE (Youth Mission Initiative LIVE, pronounced why-em-eye LIVE). Youth groups will compete to win one of three $25,000 endowment funds established by the Presbyterian Foundation to benefit church youth ministry programs.
The inaugural ymiLIVE Youth Video Challenge is an opportunity for Presbyterian youth groups to produce a short, original video interpreting the scripture taken from Micah 6:8 “…to do justice, love kindness, walk humbly with your God.” The theme of the challenge and ymiLIVE’s on-line community is to provide an opportunity for Presbyterians to express their passion for mission, connect and re-connect with other members and develop new friends – it’s fellowship without boundaries.
Registration to participate in the ymiLIVE Youth Video Challenge began February 1, 2008. To date, more than 550 Presbyterian youth groups have signed up to take part in the challenge. For the next three months, video submissions will be posted to the website. On-line voting by youth group members, leaders, parents, friends and families will continue through June 1. During that time, on-line voters will narrow the field of video entries to a group of 15 finalists. Final selection of the 3 winning videos will be voted on by the Youth Advisory Delegates (YADs) during the 2008 General Assembly of the PC (U.S.A.) in San Jose, California in late June. Each of the three winning youth groups will receive a $25,000 endowment by the Presbyterian Foundation.
Interested Presbyterian youth groups can continue to register to participate in the ymiLIVE Youth Video Challenge by logging on to www.ymiLIVE.org. Video submissions can be posted on www.ymiLIVE.org effectively immediately.
